For full-time registered students, Erasmus is a once-off opportunity for you to study at another European institution for a semester or a full academic year.

Students whose programs of study include a work placement may be able to complete this placement as traineeship mobility in another EU member state as part of the traineeship mobility. Graduates may apply for a traineeship up to six months within a year after graduation.

+ Phase 1 Expression of an interest

Students should express their intention to study abroad to the TU Dublin School Academic Coordinator when the call is announced once a year in January – February.

Students must meet the requirements and nomination criteria to be selected for international studies by TU Dublin School of Art and Design executives:

Students must meet the requirements and nomination criteria to be selected for international studies by TU Dublin School of Art and Design executives:

Administrative criteria:

Qualitative criteria:

  1. Having passed examinations on the first attempt and achieving an average academic score of at least 63%.
  2. Satisfactory overall college attendance (>80%).
  3. No evidence or history of Supportive Learning Plans (SLPs).
  4. No more than one week of uncertified or unaccounted absence from practice placements.
  5. Evaluation of motivational letter by selection panel (this panel will consist of the School Executive Board and relevant academic personnel).
  6. Portfolio in 1 (one) PDF file (max 5MB); titled: name-last name-the program you are studying. A portfolio should include a Personal motivation statement about why you are willing to study at our partner University and get the Erasmus+ mobility grant, and a student’s work completed in your study program (max 15 -20 images).
  7. A signed approval from your year tutor or a program chair that you are eligible to go on international or Erasmus mobility, indicating the study year and semester.

Applications received after the closing date will not be nominated to the TU Dublin International/Erasmus office.

Once a student is selected by The School Executives, the Scholl Academic Erasmus coordinator nominates to the TU Dublin International Office for Erasmus or International Exchange Mobility.

Students might be asked to select the second preference as the number of places available for the school to send students on Erasmus is limited to the number our Erasmus partner universities can accept. When we have more requests to travel to a particular location than spaces available, the school decides which applications to put forward to the International Engagement and Global Mobility office. The School Executive reviews student academic records of all applicants and priority is given to those who have performed best. In addition, we do not normally recommend students with outstanding referrals for Erasmus exchange. Students may have an opportunity to apply for travel the next year however this would be subject to the same conditions as above.

Nomination does not guarantee that the partner university will accept your portfolio. Partner universities have their selection procedure and the quality of academic criteria.

+ Phase 2 Application procedure

Once nominated, you will be asked to complete an online internal application form at TU Dublin sent out to you from the Global Mobility Unite. You will receive an email from the TU Dublin International Exchange and Global Mobility Office with the online application link and documents you have to submit.

You will have to apply online before the below-stated deadline:

Once Global Mobility Office receives your application, you will be nominated to your chosen university destination or "host institution." The host institution will then advise you of the application procedures and notify you of their decision (accept or reject your application and portfolio).

All outgoing students are required to attend a Pre-Departure Meeting organised by the TU Dublin International Exchange and Global Mobility Office. At this meeting, you will get information about Erasmus documentation, and the Erasmus App, receive the Erasmus Student Charter, and learn about your role in applying for your Erasmus funding.

+ Phase 3 Student acceptance at the Partner institution

Learning Agreement

Students must complete a Learning Agreement signed by the student, the School Academic Erasmus coordinator, and the host university.

Grant Agreement is the anchor document of every student’s Erasmus mobility, showing the terms and conditions under which you are entitled to Erasmus funding. Do keep it to hand and consult your copy as necessary.

Pre-Departure Declaration is to confirm that you have attended our Pre-departure meeting before you proceed to travel for your Erasmus mobility.

Confirmation of Arrival Form is to be organised by you for stamp and signature after your arrival abroad.

Acknowledgement of Receipt of Grant (duly filled and signed) should be emailed to the International Engagement and Global Mobility office after you receive your first grant payment.

Certificate of Attendance (duly filled, signed and stamped) should be emailed to the International Engagement and Global Mobility office at the end of your Erasmus period abroad.

Erasmus+ Student Charter highlights your rights and obligations and tells you what is expected of you, as well as what you can expect from TU Dublin and your host University at each step of your Erasmus+ experience.
