Green Lab

My Green Lab accreditation is being sought across a variety of TU Dublin lab spaces and 10 certifications have already been awarded. With levels awarded ranging from Silver to Green, eight My Green Lab certifications have been achieved across the four Schools of the Faculty of Sciences & Health, incorporating 26 undergraduate lab spaces in total, and two have been awarded to Research Hubs. These awards recognise the achievements made in reducing the environmental impact of laboratory space and for successfully completing the My Green Lab Certification Programme. Green Certification is the highest ranking accreditation on the programme, followed by Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Recognised by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign as a key measure of progress towards a zero-carbon future, The  Green Lab Certification programme is considered the international gold standard for laboratory sustainability best practices around the world. My Green Lab Certification is a proven, scalable programme that helps organisations achieve sustainability goals. It offers tried-and-true methods rooted in science to dramatically reduce the environmental impact of laboratories without disrupting the critical work underway.

TU Dublin is an active member of the My Green Lab programme, and a My Green Labs working group is working to make impactful improvements to decrease the environmental footprint of laboratory-based work (undergraduate and research) at TU Dublin. With one Green Lab Certification achieved, TU Dublin is progressing with eight more My Green Labs applications for labs across the University.
