Dr Lorraine D’Arcy is TU Dublin’s Sustainability Action Research and Innovation Lead who brings over 20 years' experience of trans-disciplinary project development and community engagement from her research, teaching and practice to the team. She is a leading contributor to Irish public debate and policy development around the transport, planning, health, equity, behaviour science and climate nexus. She was Conference Lead for Walk21 Ireland 2022 – the International Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities hosted by TU Dublin in September 2022, funded by the Departments for Transport, Health and Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.  

She is a Civil Engineer with a background in traffic engineering, transportation planning and materials science (asphalt) and has worked in sport, physical activity and health policy and promotion. She also holds a PhD in exercise and environmental psychology which focused on how streets, neighbourhood design and social determinants influence our transport and health behaviours.
