Mick has currently works as a senior lecturer in Engineering at the Blanchardstown campus. As a professional engineer, Mick has worked in the Oil & Gas industries on power generation and gas compression systems. To support his research at TU Dublin, Mick was the Chair of the European Science Foundation COST Action TU0802 for two years, focused on the integration of Phase Change Materials in thermal energy storage. Mick is currently supervising PhD students in thermal energy systems. He provides energy consultancy services to Irish start-up companies developing energy product prototypes. He has filed two patents in the field of thermal energy storage and founded Warmer Wedge Ltd, a TU Dublin spin-out manufacturing PCM heat batteries for domestic hot water tanks. He was principal investigator on the International Energy Research Centre funded project 2011 – 2014 in which his team patented a PCM thermal storage unit connected to a micro-CHP.
