The Exceptional Circumstances Fund
Access to education changes lives and our students may occasionally find themselves in difficult financial situations that create a barrier to their studies, ones which require immediate assistance.
See how your support makes a difference
This fund helps students whose needs go beyond the aid available elsewhere, providing direct support to those experiencing extreme and immediate financial difficulty. It is open to the entire student body, including our apprentices and international students, across all our campuses. Applications are reviewed by a panel of TU Dublin staff members, chaired by the Head of Student Support and Wellbeing. This support is sent directly to the student, often on the same day they have let us know their need.
Donate now
You can make an online donation now, this can be a once-off donation or a regular gift. Every donation, large or small, will be gratefully received. We also ask that you consider making a regular donation to the fund. Our regular givers are a vital part of the help we can offer. Having guaranteed income from our generous monthly donors means we can plan for long-term solutions and invest in bigger projects. We can look not just at reactive work to support students - but also to develop sustainable assistance. If you prefer - view information on how to set up a standing order.
TU Dublin Staff Payroll Giving
We are delighted to now offer Payroll Giving, meaning TU Dublin staff members can have a contribution deducted directly from their salary. Find out how to set up your monthly or once-off contribution.
Tax Efficient Donations
TU Dublin Foundation is an eligible charity and can reclaim the tax paid on donations of €250 or above in a tax year, giving even greater impact on what you give. Just €21 a month could result in a total donation of €362.32 for the appeal, with tax relief added after twelve months.
The rate of tax relief for charities is a blended rate of 31% for all donors, irrespective of the actual tax rate paid. The gross donation is determined to be 100% / (100% - 31%) = 144.93% of the net donation, so the tax relief works out as 44.93% of the net donation – i.e. approximately 45% of what you paid.
Every euro raised will count and every euro will go towards supporting our students. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any queries: foundation@tudublin.ie.
Thank You
Between 2020 and 2022, thanks to the generosity of donors to the previously titled Student Support Fund, TU Dublin Foundation awarded grants to 12 deserving projects. Funding decisions were made by a panel chaired by the Registrar and Deputy President, Dr. Mary Meaney. These initiatives responded to the social, emotional, financial and educational needs of students and challenges of the Covid 19 pandemic. Read about the Student Support Fund Projects.
Thank you to all those who contributed the fund.
